From emergency asthma cases to helping a newborn take a critical first breath, the Hospital’s Respiratory Care Department is staffed year round, 24 hours a day. A new sleep study center provides treatments to facilitate better breathing
during sleep.

Services
The HCMH Respiratory Care Department offers a diverse array of services ranging from patient assessments and protocols to life support in the ICU to rehabilitating therapy on our skilled unit.  Whether an individual needs emergency help for asthma or should a newborn need help breathing
at birth, respiratory therapy is staffed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. The respiratory care department
also provides outpaitent diagnostic testing such as: EKG, pulmonary function testing, and
EEG (neurology) testing.


Sleep Study
Sleep Study, located within the Respiratory Therapy Department, deals with sleep apnea, a treatable problem. The sleep study center provides treatments including weight loss, mouth piece devices, recommended surgery, or CPAP therapy that facilitates better breathing during sleep. In addition, the center deals with excessive snoring, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy.
